A warm illustration of some foundation principles of industrial design related primarily through anecdotes by an ID pioneer. An excellent example of many of the visual guidelines espoused by Tufte and a fun read.

The Visual Display of Quantitative Information by Edward Tufte
Reading this book was a dissertation-altering experience for me. It improved how I presented my data, which improved how I thought about my data, which improved how I gathered data. Tufte has several other books, including a scathing commentary on PowerPoint.

Brian Jensen
Brian is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan and a new faculty member at Brigham Young University. His work focuses on MEMS and the modeling of related phenomena.

Panos Papalambros
Panos is well-known for his work in design optimization. He heads the Optimal Design Laboratory at the University of Michigan and is an author of the book Principles of Optimal Design.

Matt Reed
Matt is one of the world's experts on anthropometry and posture prediction. He researches and publishes extensively in automotive standards and design.

Don Chaffin
Don performed some of the foundation research quantifying human capability. He directs the Human Motion Simulation Laboratory at the University of Michigan and is an author of the book Occupational Biomechanics.

Trevor cofounded Blue Mango Multimedia and is quite a hoops player.
