Design for human variability

The effect of varying the first two principal components on glenoid vault geometry.

I conduct research into Design for Human Variability. This is a DfX capability that supports the design of artifacts, tasks, and environments that are robust to the variability in their users. The work is broadly decomposed into three areas: quantifying variability within populations, creating approaches for accommodating that variability, and developing the tools that accomplish these tasks. A primary focus of each of these activities is dissemination: if the work doesn’t make it into practice, we weren’t successful in our efforts.
